*CALL TO WORSHIP
One: We come together not around the uniformity of experience, belief, or expression but gathered in the One who is of many names and who is beyond all naming.
All: May we live in peace.
One: By God’s Spirit we become community even as we honour the sacred that exists outside the open windows and beyond these walls.
All: May we work for justice for all.
One: The One who desires for all to know and live in truth is gathering us together to worship in a spirit of truth.
ALL: May we become one in heart this day.
PRAYER OF APPROACH
*Hymn VU # 560 O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
All: Regardless of who we are, what we believe or do not believe, or the names by which we identify ourselves, we are one in you. Confident of this reality, we can admit to the ways our personal identities at times become barriers to true community. Rather than helping us seek peace and justice for all, our affiliations and ideologies, often separate and keep us from working together. Like curtains over a window, they keep us from the grand view of your realm. We pray now for mutual understanding and partnership between ourselves and another with whom we struggle to recognize our unity in you.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: By God’s Spirit we are one. And just as nothing can separate us from the love of God, nothing can truly separate us from each other. In this same Spirit, our prayers become power to actualize and realize that which is our intention. Let us give thanks for the peace between us and use our power to pursue God’s justice for all.
All: Thanks be to God! Amen.
