Aroud the World – Driving to a Better Living

*Hymn MV #126 “Are You a Shepherd” See Separate Sheet

Prayer
From north and south, from east and west, we come;
as God's people called to the Table where simple grace nourishes us.
From down the street to across town, from single households to apartment dwellers; we come as God's people called to
community, where we live and serve one another.
From every class, every race, every status, from little ones with sippy cups to elders with overflowing hearts; we come as God's people to witness to God's hope, to offer peace to a shattered world.

Lord’s Prayer
Eternal Spirit, Earth, Maker, Pain bearer, Life
giver, source of all that is and that shall be,
Father and Mother of us all.
Loving God, in whom is heaven.
The hallowing of your name echoes through
the universe!
The way of your justice be followed by the
peoples of the earth!
Your heavenly will be done by all created beings!
Your commonwealth of peace and freedom
sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive
us.
In times of temptation and test, spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil, free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is
love, now and forever. Amen.

*Hymn 468 Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ

Jesus shared many meals with his friends and he always included everyone present, saying
And the table will be wide. And the welcome will be wide.
And the arms will open wide to gather us in.
And our hearts will open wide to receive.
And we will come as children who trust there is enough.
And we will come unhindered and free.
And our aching will be met with bread.
And our sorrow will be met with wine.
And we will open our hands to the feast without shame.
And we will turn toward each other without fear.
And we will give up our appetite for despair.
And we will taste and know of delight.
And we will become bread for a hungering world.
And we will become drink for those who thirst.
And the blessed will become the blessing.
And everywhere will be the feast.
Bread for those who hunger, drink for those who thirst
Sharing the Gifts

Prayer
We thank you, generous God, for the nourishment of your table. Take your gathered people and scatter us again into the world, renewed, invigorated, and committed, that so nourished we may take root and bear life-giving fruit to feed, heal, clothe and comfort, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

*Hymn 481 Sent Forth By God’s Blessing

Blessing
May everyone be happy and safe, and may their hearts be filled with joy.
May all living beings live in security and in peace:
beings who are frail or strong, tall or short,

near or far away, already born or yet to be born.
May all of them dwell in perfect tranquility.
May no one do harm to anyone.

May no one, out of anger or ill will, wish anyone any harm.

MV 126 Are You a Shepherd?

Are you a shepherd, good shepherd who leads us
safely through danger, while calming our fears?
Are you a father who shelters and feeds us,
shares in our laughter and wipes away tears?

Refrain:
Yes, you are shepherd, parent and teacher,
but you are greater than all that we know.
Holy and living, loving and giving,
God, you are with us wherever we go.

Are you a mother, good mother who bears us,
comforts, protects us and helps us to rest?
Are you a teacher who daily prepares us,
challenging students to offer their best?

Great, gentle shepherd, forever beside us,
lead all your children in paths that are right.
Great, loving parent, wise teacher, you guide us.
We want to love you and bring you delight.
