GATHERING MUSIC – Drumbo Men’s Choir & Youth Choir

Lighting of the Christ Candle

Christ is our Light.

            Thanks be to God.

We come here from our separate homes and families.

We come here as part of the family of God.

We come together as part of the Body of Christ.

We come to worship God in spirit and in truth.

*HYMN   #556 “Would You Bless Our Homes and Families”

Loving God, we come to this place;

brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers,

grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles

for we are all part of your family, all one in Christ.

You show us by your being how to be family with each other.

Today, as we celebrate mothers and the love that gave us birth,

open us to your presence,

and show us how to share your love with the world,

as we pray the prayer Jesus taught, saying: Our Father, …..

*HYMN   # 644          “I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry”

            – Drumbo Men’s Choir with soloist Olivia Garside

ONE:  Through the joy of Thanksgiving, the excitement of Advent, the wonder of Christmas, the season of Lent and the joy of Easter our Sunday School has gathered.

STUDENTS, TEACHERS & HELPERS: We give thanks to God for opportunities to learn, to experience friendship, and to grow in love and faith.

CONGREGATION: We give thanks for all your hard work, for the joy you have found in each other and the joy you have brought to us.

STUDENTS: We thank God for our teachers, for the fun, crafts, the special days in church, and for the friends we have made.

TEACHERS & HELPERS:  We thank God for good resources and interested students; for time to prepare, and for the rewards that come from working with the children.

ONE: We thank God for all those who have shared their gifts with our church school this year and for a supportive congregation.

ALL: God, whose presence is joy and whose promises are for people of all ages: we ask your blessing on our whole church family as together we strive to be your people each day of our lives.  Amen.

We thank God for parents who not only gave us life

but also taught us how to live.

Seen on a church sign:

There are two certainties in life:

1.    There is a God.

   2.    And it is not you.

It’s Coming!

Celebrate the Occasion with Flowers!

This is a wonderful time to remember and to honour those we love with

flowers to decorate our Sanctuary on June 2 – Anniversary Sunday.

What a lovely way surprise someone special.  Imagine their faces when

they see their name in the bulletin in honour of or in memory of those

who have shared in the life and work of the Willis Congregation over

the years.

It’s easy to do:  just fill in the form on the bottom of this

announcement with their name, check ‘in honour of’ or ‘in memory of’,

and place it on the offering plate any Sunday in May.  Then on June 2

bring your flowers to church with you.  Please have them here by 10:45

at the latest.

Many thanks from the Willis Session for making the 144th Anniversary
