CALL TO WORSHIP

Fall is here and so are we.

We come as an autumn people, a little tired in the frantic

return to routine after the summer.

The leaves are beginning to turn.

We come blazing with our own colours:

our red passion for discipleship;

our yellow yearning for Christ’s light;

our orange clinging to past comforts;

our brown weariness in the face of new challenges.

We come in faith, hope and trust.

We come to worship as a family of faith.

*HYMN # 232            “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You”

OPENING PRAYER

We come, O God, seeking you in song and prayer,

in word and witness. Through the growing nights of the fall,

show us Christ’s light. Through the gradual chill of shorter days,

warm us with your embrace of love. Through the baring of the

trees, clothe us in your Spirit’s wisdom, Bless us as we pray

the in Jesus’ name, saying:

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; Thy

kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our

trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;

for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever

and ever. Amen.

               Thought for the Week

God always provides what we need,

but not necessarily what we want.

Heavenly Humour

The minister was telling the children about the Exodus from Egypt, and how the people ate manna in the wilderness. “Now,” he asked, “can anyone tell me where manna comes from?”

A hand shot up. “Manitoba?”
